Policies & Consent
Clear rules so every family knows what to expect. Please read before your first lesson.
Attendance
Cancellation & Makeup Policy
24-Hour Notice for Rescheduling
For an 8-session term at Siran Music Academy, students who provide at least 24 hours' notice before an absence may save and reschedule one missed lesson.
One Makeup Per 8-Session Term
After the makeup option has been used, any further absences - whether excused or unexcused - will be counted as missed sessions within the same 8-session term.
Sudden Illness or Family Emergency
If your child is unwell on lesson day, please message us as early as possible. A same-day cancellation due to verified illness or a family emergency is treated as your one allowed reschedule for the term, not as a forfeited session.
Snow Days & Weather Closures
When the North Vancouver School District announces a weather-related closure, in-person lessons that day are automatically rescheduled at no cost. Families with online lessons may opt to keep the original time slot or reschedule.
Planned Vacations & Extended Absence
For breaks of two consecutive lessons or more (family travel, school exam week), please give at least two weeks' written notice. We will pause the term and resume on your return without forfeiting any sessions. Teacher absences (illness, professional development) are always rescheduled at no cost to the family.
Why this matters: A reserved lesson slot is held just for your child. Late cancellations leave the studio unable to offer that time to other waiting families. Thank you for understanding.
Privacy
Photo, Video & Performance Recording Consent
From time to time we capture photos, videos, and audio recordings of our students - during recitals, in the studio, at competitions, and at festivals. The Academy also holds material captured over the past several years. We use this for educational purposes, our website and social media, and to celebrate student achievements with our community.
Two-part Consent (Retroactive + Prospective)
"I give permission for photos, videos, and audio recordings of the student - both material already captured prior to today and future captures during enrolment - to be used by Siran Music Academy on the channels I have selected, for educational, promotional, social media, examination, competition, and press purposes."
Per-channel opt-in. Tick each channel you agree to: website, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, YouTube, Telegram, TikTok, WhatsApp Status, printed brochures, recital programs, exam submissions (RCM / ABRSM), competitions, press (RCM / BCRMTA / CFMTA / local press). Leave unticked any channel you do not want the student to appear on.
Naming options. Full name, first name + last initial (for example "Atrisa B."), first name only, or no name (image / audio only).
Withdrawal. You may withdraw consent in whole or in part at any time by emailing siranoush.akhgarandouz@gmail.com. The Academy will remove the material from its own channels within 30 days. Material already shared with press, examiners, or reshared on social media may not be recoverable.
You will be asked to confirm your choices when you book your first lesson and again on the printable consent form at enrolment. Declining consent never affects lesson quality, performance opportunities, or exam registration. Under BC PIPA you have the right to access and correct the personal information the Academy holds about the student.
