A new chapter of musical excellence begins. ABRSM has introduced a refreshed Piano Syllabus for 2027-2028, featuring new repertoire from Initial Grade to Grade 8. Exams on the new pieces take effect from 1 January 2027, which means now is the perfect time to start preparing.
The updated syllabus offers a balanced selection of classical masterpieces, contemporary works, film and stage music, and specially commissioned pieces, giving students greater musical variety and artistic opportunity. New multimedia learning resources, including QR-linked videos and practice support materials, have also been added to enhance the learning experience.
Reassuringly, the scales, sight-reading, and aural test requirements remain unchanged, so students and teachers can focus on exploring the exciting new repertoire while continuing to build strong musical foundations.
